Year 6 Field Week at Woodlands, Wales – Day 2

Day 2 at Woodlands saw us wake up to a grey, rainy Welsh morning, but the weather certainly didn’t dampen the Hampden spirit! After enjoying bacon rolls for breakfast, everyone wrapped up in plenty of layers and headed out ready for another exciting day of adventure.

Today’s activities included:

  • Group 1 – Canoeing
  • Group 2 – High Ropes
  • Group 3 – Caving
  • Group 4 – Caving
  • Group 5 – Canoeing

Despite the cold and drizzle, the children showed fantastic resilience, enthusiasm and teamwork throughout the day. Whether paddling across the water, tackling the challenges of the high ropes course or exploring underground passages, everyone embraced the experience with great determination and positivity.

After a busy day outdoors, the children were very pleased to return to the centre for some warm showers before sitting down to a hearty meal of sausage and mash, which was much needed after a chilly autumn day!

This evening, the children took part in a photo orienteering challenge around the centre, putting their navigation and teamwork skills to the test. The day was rounded off perfectly with hot chocolate before heading off to bed.

After a full day of activities, the teachers are hoping for plenty of sleep tonight as we recharge for another exciting day tomorrow!

We look forward to sharing more adventures from Woodlands soon.
