Vision, Ethos and Aims
Our Vision – Aspiration and Opportunity

Since 1837, John Hampden Primary School has built a reputation as a friendly and caring place, committed to excellence in learning.
We aim to support children sympathetically and encourage positive attitudes to learning, school and life. We believe that the higher the expectations we have of the pupils, the greater their achievement will be. Working closely with parents and community, we want all children to develop their full potential and to acquire knowledge, understanding, and skills in a wide variety of subjects and activities. We also trust that they will find enjoyment and satisfaction in learning and working with other children and adults.
Ethos and Aims – The Hampden Way
It is the primary aim of our schools that every member of the schools’ community feels happy, valued and respected and that each person is treated fairly and well. We are a caring community with mutual trust and respect for all.
Our schools follow The Hampden Way: We are kind; We do our best; We are a team.
These behaviours encompass a range of core values which we teach and nurture through our Jigsaw PSHE scheme of work. We aim to promote relationships which are happy, safe and secure; helping children to become positive, responsible and increasingly independent members of the school and the wider community. It is our aim to extend this behaviour and conduct in the world beyond our school gates through Hampden Values.
