On Thursday 15th January, Year 3 pupils took part in an exciting one-hour rocks and volcanoes workshop delivered by visitors from Oxford University. The workshop supported the children’s current geography topic on volcanoes and earthquakes, as well as their science learning about rocks.
During the session, the children enjoyed a range of hands-on activities, including sorting and identifying different types of rocks. They also watched some brilliant experiments that helped bring their learning to life and develop their understanding of volcanic processes.
A particular highlight was seeing real volcanologist equipment, with some children having the opportunity to try on a specialist suit and gloves. This gave the pupils a fascinating insight into the work of scientists who study volcanoes.
The children showed great enthusiasm and participation throughout the workshop and learned a great deal. It was a valuable and engaging experience that enhanced their learning across both subjects.
