On Friday 16th May Year 2 went on an amazing trip to Windsor Castle as part of our Kings and Queens history topic.
We had a brilliant time!
From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. They whisked us through security and then we were off! Rose class received a whistle stop tour of the State rooms, courtesy of Mette, one of the castle’s brilliant guards, whilst Fuchsia class were treated to a question and answer session with a guardsman, they even got to stroke his busby!
Both classes had a ‘Meet the Monarch’ session where they learnt more about King Charles III and his life as King, reenacting his coronation, finding out about his hobbies and his beliefs.
The whole day was topped off by the King arriving home for the weekend- an event the children greeted with a cheer as they spotted the Royal Standard replacing the Union Jack on the Round Tower flag pole!
A fantastic day was had by all!
