The children in Aqua and Periwinkle classes have settled well into their new school routines. We have had a very exciting first half term with some very special visitors coming to join us in the classroom.

The children in Reception kicked off their Superhero topic with a fun-filled dress up day. The children had a go at Wake and Shake with some superhero themed songs, sorted themselves into groups based on their superhero costume and chose which super powers they would have.

Letters and Sounds Phonics Evening

Once again, we had a successful turn out for the Reception Class phonics evening this year. Many parents came back to school to join us for an information session on teaching phonics in the Reception year here at JHS. They were able to listen to talks from staff and even got to have a go at some of the games we play in phonics sessions with the children. We had a fun listening to the 'Jolly Phonic' songs and practising the actions, playing the 'satpin' challenge and finished the night with an energetic 'Dough Disco' routine!

Zoo Lab

The lovely people at the Red Kite Family Centre arranged for us to have a visit from Alan at ZooLab. We all listened to Alan as he introduced and taught us about his animals. We were allowed to touch, stroke and look at Leo the lizard, Gary and Mark the snails, Lily the scorpion, Spike the dragon and Milkshake the snake. It was really good fun and even the teachers got to have a turn!

Grandparents Day

Earlier this month, we invited our Grandparents into school for the afternoon to celebrate Grandparent's Day. We had a fantastic turn out and enjoyed showing our visitors around the classroom and Foundation Stage garden. We finished off the afternoon with some traditional songs which everyone seemed to enjoy.
