School Fete

John Hampden Primary School held its annual Summer fete on Saturday 5th July.

The event was opened by local British Middleweight MMA champion Chris Fensom, of A1 Martial Arts, followed by a demo by students from Custom Karate school.

As well as the ever popular tombola stalls, face painting, and bouncy castle, children were thrilled to be able to hold an owl, and get up close with other falcons and hawks, courtesy of Wheatley Birds of Prey.

The inclement weather didn’t put a dampener on the kids’ enthusiasm for a giant ‘Wake & Shake’ session, and a World Cup flag hunt around the school grounds.

Sharon Smits, PTFA Chair, said “Despite the occasional shower the Fete was a terrific success. I’d like to offer a huge thank you to all our amazing volunteers, generous contributions from the community, and the local businesses who offered a range of fantastic raffle prizes. Money raised at the fete will use to fund a new numeracy scheme.”
